The Tapping Points

This diagram shows all of the tapping points for the Basic Recipe. This is what is most commonly used and it is a great place to start when learning how to use tapping.

Karate-Chop Point (KC) = The outer edge of your palm, on the opposite side from your thumb.

Eyebrow (EB) = The inner edges of the eyebrows, closest to the bridge of the nose. Use two fingers.

Side of eye (SE) = The hard ridge between the corner of your eye and your temple. Use two fingers. Feel out this area gently so you don't poke yourself in the eye!

Under eye (UE) = The hard bone under the eye that merges with the cheekbone. Use two fingers, and stay in line with your pupil.

Under nose (UN) = The point centered between the bottom of the nose and the upper lip. Use two fingers.

Chin (CH) = This point is in line with the previous one, and is centered between the bottom of the lower lip and the chin.

Collarbone (CB) = Tap just below the hard ridge of your collarbone with four fingers.

Thymus (THY) = Center of the chest on the sternum bone.

Underarm (UA) = On your side, just about four inches beneath the armpit. Use four fingers.

Top of Head (TH) = On the crown of your head. Use four fingers

EFT Basic Tapping Sequence:

  • Identify your issue, emotion, pain, memory, belief, etc. (or an aspect of that issue)
  • Rate the intensity of the issue from 0 to 10
  • Create the Set Up Statement, which is stating the negative issue followed by a positive statement: Even though I have 'the problem', I now choose to deeply and completely love and accept myself. 
  • Tap on the Karate Chop point while stating the Set Up Statement 3 times.
  • Starting on the Eye Brow point, tap on each of the points 5 - 7 times while saying a reminder phrase once on each point. 
  • After 3 or 4 rounds of Tapping on all of the points take a deep breath and check back in and re-rate the intensity of the issue.
  • Continue to Tap through all the points until you feel some relief. Remember that if you started at a 7 and are now a 5, you have made a lot of progress. You can finish there for now or continue Tapping to get more relief. 
  • If the intensity still does not start to come down, click here to get a list of possible reasons why it isn't working.
  • Once you have got some relief, it is nice to finish with a round of tapping on some affirmations or positive statements for your desired outcome for the situation.
